Your data in Skill Web

What is stored

• The student's first name and the first letter of their surname, which is what the app shows. The app also keeps a short internal id made from the name the student was registered with.
• The email address used to sign in. For students under 18, this is a parent's email.
• Practice data: which skills are open, the levels and tempos reached, exercises ticked, practice sessions and plans, trophies, notes from lessons, and when practice happened.

Nothing else. No date of birth, no address, no phone number, no photos. Listen mode uses the microphone only while it is listening to a run, on your device; no sound is recorded or sent anywhere.

Who can see it

• The student, and their parent through the same sign-in.
• Ben, the teacher, who runs Essex Drum School.
• On the Leaderboard, other students in the class see your shown name, points, level, streak, trophies and, if you turn on rivals, your rival. They never see lesson notes, Ben's comments, your practice notes or your plans.

You can take yourself off the Leaderboard at any time with the switch on the Leaderboard tab. Then other students see nothing of yours.

Where it is kept

The records are held by Supabase, the database service Skill Web runs on, in a data centre in the UK or EU. Supabase stores the data for us and does not use it for anything else. The app itself is hosted by Netlify. A copy of your own record (and the last Leaderboard) is also kept on your device so the app works offline; signing out removes it.

What is not done with it

No advertising, no analytics, no tracking, and nothing is sold or shared with anyone else.

Getting it changed or deleted

Email Ben (the address you use to arrange lessons) and say what you would like corrected or deleted. When a student leaves, their sign-in and practice record are deleted. You can also ask for a copy of everything held about you.
